Xbox One news: Backward Compatibility update and an Overwatch release date celebrationSeven new Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games have been launched by Microsoft, adding to an already impressive number of titles available.
Microsoft show no signs of slowing down their BC releases and will even expand the program further later in 2017.
That’s because the Xbox Scorpio will be launched this year, and has been confirmed to be 100% backwards compatible.
It will even provide a performance boost to old Xbox 360 games, although by how much is still unknown.
More Xbox One Backward Compatible titles are expected to be released on Tuesday, May 9, although Microsoft will leave it a mystery until an announcement is made.
And having kept fans busy with a range of intriguing new Xbox One Backward Compatibility games in April, Microsoft have decided to turn up the heat early in May.
A new wave of BC titles have been confirmed in the past seven days, making for great reading for any fans still missing a title or two from their Xbox 360 classic collection.
A total of seven new games landed from the tech giant, providing fans a good excuse to check their Games & App library today.
If you digitally owned Hard Corps: Uprising, Harms Way, Band of Bugs, Bullet Soul, or Bullet Soul -Infinite Burst, you should be able to find them in your collection.
These new Xbox 360 games are now fully compatible on the Xbox One, meaning that you should be able to place the disc in your machine and install it onto your hard drive.
It brings the total number of Xbox One Backward Compatible games launched this week to seven - both Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 arrived on May 2.
The official Microsoft voting site now shows a total of around 378 Backward Compatible games to download and play, although some of these are disc-only.
A new Overwatch release date event appears to be in the works from Blizzard this month.
And it looks like ALL characters are set to get a major makeover with the release of the Anniversary celebrations being scheduled for launch.
An Overwatch Anniversary event has been expected to celebrate the 2016 release date of the hit shooter and it appears fans will not be disappointed.
Dataminers using the latest Overwatch patch notes and PTR update have determined that each character is set to get at least five new cosmetic items, while some have been picked out for even more.
Currently, it appears that Reapers is set to get the most, with eight new items found for the death-obsessed gunsman, with Tracer, Orisa, Sombra getting seven, Hanzo, Pharah, Bastion, Symmetra, Genji, Zarya, Soldier: 76, Lucio, D.Va and Mei getting six each.
The rest - Ana, Torbjorn, Reinhardt, Mercy, Roadhog, McCree, Junkrat, Winston, Widowmaker and Zenyatta - will be bottom of the pile with five items.

Doomfist will also reportedly launch in the coming days ahead of the new Anniversary Event.
He will be a character that can be used to counter Reinhardt and Roadhog, meaning that Doomfist will likely be a powerful offensive hero.
While Doomfist has been expected as the next inclusion, more Overwatch news today suggests that he will be followed by two more.
It's worth taking this all with a grain of salt as it may just be a big online hoax, however, if it proves true fans might be seeing some very interesting characters joining the roster.
Bria is reportedly one of the smallest characters in the game and currently in testing, while Ivon will play a defensive role, although still in the planning stages.
Bria will apparently be able to lock down a section of the map as one of her abilities, although how this power could work without becoming OP in control is anyone's guess.
If the report does prove true, expect to hear more in the coming days from Blizzard.
