Sky Sports have revealed the live Premier League fixtures that they will broadcast throughout the first two months of the 2016/17 season, with defending champions Leicester set to open the new campaign against recently promoted Hull City.
In a swap from last season, Sky will now broadcast the early Saturday fixture as the new television broadcasting rights deal kicks in for the Premier League, with BT Sport taking up the 17:30 kick-off.
Sky Sports will continue to show two matches on the majority of Sundays throughout the season, with the opening weekend set to see Jose Mouinrho’s first competitive match as Manchester United manager shown live at 13:30 when they take on Bournemouth before a hotly-anticipated clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at 16:00.
As well as showing Mourinho’s first match, Sky Sports will also boast Antonio Conte’s opening fixture as Chelsea manager when the Blues take on West Ham in the first London derby of the season.
The new campaign will also see the introduction of regular Friday night matches, with United set to be the first team to compete in such a fixture when they take on Southampton at Old Trafford on 19 August. United actually played Aston Villa last season on a Friday, but that was a one-off event due to an English Defence League march taking place the following afternoon.
BT Sport meanwhile will broadcast Pep Guardiola’s first match in charge of Manchester City on Saturday evening as the former Bayern Munich manager opens his account up against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium.
Sky Sports will show 126 matches this season with all 20 Premier League clubs set to feature at least once before the end of September.
