Grand Master Neal Gittleman of Palmetto Sport Karate celebrated his 80th birthday and retirement from teaching on Saturday, Feb. 25, at The Rusty Rudder of Mount Pleasant surrounded by over 50 of his students and families.Gittleman has been teaching for Debbie Reese of Palmetto Sport Karate in Mount Pleasant for the last nine years. He will be retiring with his family in Sonora, Calif. Over 500 families in Mount Pleasant, both children and adults, have participated in classes taught by Gittleman in tae kwon do. He graduated over 50 students to black belt.Palmetto Sport Karate, Debbie Reese and her students wished him a happy birthday and retirement in California. Gitteman's last day at Palmetto Sport Karate will be March 8.
