MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) -
The Marshall Cinema will screen a world premier documentary on Monday night. The documentary entitled “Uncertain” was shot in 2015 in the Caddo Lake area and features many locals from the town of Uncertain, Texas. The theater had to make ready for over 700 people, including cast and crew. The popcorn is heating up, and so is interest in Uncertain. Larry Skinner manages the Marshall Cinema and was a little surprised at how quickly advance tickets sold out for the premier of the movie.“We were just amazed at how many people love Caddo Lake. So what we did is we got it to run next week, too,” Skinner said.Actually, the film has been screened in the building before. “It was shown to the crew so they could see what they had done after they finished filming it,” Skinner revealed. The documentary has been on the big screen a few times at film festivals, and won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival, but they wanted the public premiere to be back where it came from. And there will be VIPs attending, of course.“All the people that were in the movie itself, all the crew,” Skinner said. There has been a previous premiere at the Marshall Cinema, but that was a decade ago.“I guess not since The Great Debaters, right?” I asked Skinner.“That’s about it. That was a parking lot full of people, and I expect the same thing tonight,” he said.People were stopping by the theater all day hoping for tickets, like Don Nutt, who knows someone in the film.“His name’s Henry Lewis. He’s a fishing guide down at Johnson’s Ranch. He’s been there forever,” Nutt said. The theater opened mid-afternoon and immediately began selling tickets for this weekend.“I’d say get your tickets quick,” Skinner advised. They sold 750 advance tickets, so they are showing it on three screens. And they have a lot more popcorn to make. The premiere is tonight and is sold out, but it will be shown again Friday, March 10 and runs through next Thursday, March 16, and will be available on iTunes later this month.
