NORMAN ― Earth Rebirth will kick off its July school garden fundraiser July 14 during the downtown Norman Art Walk to raise $1,000 worth of garden seedlings. The goal of the monthlong fundraiser is to purchase enough seedlings to supply all 15 Norman schools in Earth Rebirth's Garden Your Own Growth network for the entire fall season. The kickoff event will feature local live bands, art, face painting and refreshments. Those who can't attend the event can still support the fundraiser by attending the “FreshER Friday” music event July 28 or by donating at earthrebirthnow.org.
World Experiences Foundation's Annual Global Citizen Awards Gala will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Embassy Suites 741 N Phillips Ave. The evening's entertainment will showcase a variety of special cultural performances from around the world. The foundation will honor Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby, the Whitten-Newman Family Foundation and Mary Blankenship Pointer, senior vice president of Republic Bank & Trust. Gala tickets are $85. For more information, contact Akash Patel at 474-3310 or akash@worldexperiencesfoundation.org.
The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma has been awarded $5,000 from OK Foods, one of the largest fully integrated chicken producers in the world. This donation will provide the equivalent of 25,000 meals for children, families and seniors struggling with hunger over the summer. More than 115 OK Foods employees also donated 285 hours of service to fighting hunger at the Regional Food Bank. For more information or to make a donation, call 600-3136, or go to regionalfoodbank.org/summer.
