Universal/Comcast Corp. just dropped a trailer teaser for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom moments ago, with a brief action sequence (apparently the sequel will have running and, uh... screaming and uh...) and word that the full teaser will pop online on ...
There isn’t much to the first Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom teaser—15 seconds of footage to be precise. That means it only beats the, what, six second pre-teaser screenwriter Colin Trevorrow posted during Thanksgiving week by nine seconds. But those nine seconds are enough to inform us that in addition to a herd of dinosaurs, The Get Down’s Justice Smith, and a wise-cracking Chris Pratt, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will also give Bryce Dallas Howard some sensible shoes to run in. If she can out-run a Tyrannosaurus in high heels, imagine what kind of land speed record she can achieve in those new boots.
Back in 2015, Howard’s ability to run for her life in at the end of Jurassic World in high heels and somehow not irreparably injure herself inspired think pieces, parody videos, and, hey, even a winking response from Chris Pratt himself.
How can this trailer, where her characters responds to the command to “run,” not be an answer to heelgate 2015? In 2016 Howard told Vanity Fair’s Krista Smith that her shoes in Jurassic World “were kind of comfortable, honestly,” but also said that the way Trevorrow told her Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was green-lit was by simply texting her: “#noheels2018.” To which she responded “thank you.” The full trailer will arrive on Thursday. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens June 22, 2018.
