9:30 PM ETprintcommentBoston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas will not travel with the team on its two-game road trip this weekend because of a right knee bone bruise, the Celtics announced Thursday.Thomas will miss Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets and Sunday's matinee with the Philadelphia 76ers.Thomas played 32 minutes in Boston's 117-104 triumph over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night and didn't indicate any injury concerns while talking to reporters after the game. "We go together four, five games and somebody will get hurt or go down, and then we'll go another four or five games together. So I'm glad we could get a good stretch of games together. Hopefully everyone will stay healthy and we can finish the season off right."It's worth noting that this weekend's games are against two of the three teams with the worst records in the Eastern Conference, including the cellar-dwelling Nets.The Celtics are back home on Monday night for a key clash with the Washington Wizards that could go a long way toward determining the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Boston currently owns a 1.5-game advantage on Washington.The Celtics are also just two games behind the East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers with a head-to-head matchup looming in early April.Thomas is averaging a career and East-best 29.2 points per game this season. He still has an outside chance to challenge Larry Bird's franchise scoring record of 29.9 points per game.The Celtics went 1-3 in the four games that Thomas missed with a strained right groin in December.
