Rendering of AllStar, a golf and entertainment facility, proposed to replace Legacy Golf Course in Smyrna. The facility would be less than three miles from Suntrust Park, the new Atlanta Braves stadium.Steve Willy and Whitney Crouse, Mosaic co-founders, presented their proposal during a Board of Commissioners work session on Tuesday, June 28."You have to be careful here not to think this is a typical driving range," Crouse told the commisioners. Commission Chairman Tim Lee called it an "extraordinarily exciting" project. Many other commissioners also spoke in favor of the idea. The clubhouse would be torn down and rebuilt into  a "state of the art facility," according to the presentation. The 61,300 square foot, three-story venue would hold up to one thousand guests, hire up to 400 employees and have a $200 million impact in the area over the next 10 years, according to AllStar Golf.Crouse said AllStar's proximity to Suntrust Park would bring more customers, but added that the facility would not be dependent on Braves game days for business.Mosaic said they are working with the U.S. Department of the Interior for permits to use the land, which is adjacent to Dobbins Air Reserve Base and currently leased by Cobb County. In a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mosaic said the site is planned to open by late 2017.Related
