SALINE, MI - Emagine Entertainment is celebrating the opening of its 10th movie theater in Michigan with a grand opening Saturday, March 18, in Saline.
Located at 1335 E. Michigan Ave., the latest Emagine theater measures 54,000-square-feet and offers 1,000 seats in 9 different auditoriums decked out with state-of-the-art sound systems and power recliners. The property was formerly occupied by grocery store Country Market.
Here's what you need to know about the grand opening and the theater itself:
VIP event Friday, March 17 is sold out
A VIP event including a strolling reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. is already sold out according to the website for the Foundation of Saline Area Schools. Ticket proceeds go to the foundation and Saline Area Social Service.
Liquor license has been approved
Patrons can enjoy a handcrafted cocktail or a pint at the full-service bar ahead of their movie. Emagine employees can even deliver drinks right to your seat. The liquor license was approved Monday, Feb. 6 by the Saline City Council.
The traditional popcorn and pop selections are also available at the new movie theater, along with pizzas baked on-site in stone ovens.
Reserve seating and tickets ahead of time
Tired of being stuck on the aisle or in the very middle of the theater? Emagine has reserved seating so patrons can pick out their seats ahead of time and not fight the crowds for the best view. They can also purchase tickets on the Emagine app or online, without any surcharges.
Newest location includes a EMAX Theatre
Not to be confused with IMAX, this is Emagine's large-format movie offering with a floor-to-ceiling movie screen and Dolby's Atmos sound system to add to the experience.
The first batch of movies shown at the Emagine theater in Saline include Disney's live-action "Beauty and the Beast," "Kong: Skull Island" and "The Shack." Advance tickets are available for purchase. Prices are $6 for matinee show times, $10 in the evening, a $2 charge for EMAX showings and a $2.50 charge for 3D showings.
Emagine Entertainment was founded in 1997 and currently operates 18 movie theaters across Michigan, Minnesota and Illinois, according to the company website.
In October, CEO Paul Glantz told The Ann Arbor News the location in Saline was chosen because of the growth the company sees coming to the area and from surrounding cities and townships.
"We're confident over time the population will catch up and this will be very successful," Glantz said.
