ROYAL OAK - Emagine has launched a new, private cinema option allowing movie-goers to have full control of their film watching experience.
A new private screening room, which rolled out at Emagine Royal Oak several weeks ago, gives guests the freedom to pause their film, control the volume and lighting, have food catered to them and order drinks from a personal bartender.

The new room holds up to 30 guests, who are given an iPad to control the system.
First-run movies in the private theater will cost $599 to reserve and $399 for other streamed content.
"It's all about innovate, innovate, innovate," said Paul Glantz, Emagine Entertainment Inc. co-founder and chairman.
"We're constantly thinking of ways to better serve or meet the needs of our guests," adding guests who reserve the space for first-run films will also be served food and drink at their seats.
Additionally, guests can connect their TV and movies streaming accounts such as Hulu, HBO or Netflix, or tune into major televised sporting events. Glantz added anything digital can be streamed.
The Michigan cinema chain plans to open another private screening room this year in its Emagine Palladium-Birmingham location, and two more next year.
Each build-out costs a couple hundred thousand dollars, Glantz said.
"It's better than your living room for a sporting event, for family movies, you name it," Glantz said. "We're gonna serve you and clean up after you."
Next year, Emagine Entertainment plans to introduce a new "bar scene cinema" concept, which involves restaurant-type seating at a bar or booths with a movie playing to make for a more social experience, Glantz said.
Reservations can be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 248-703-4735. Reservations are for the length of the film plus 30 minutes for first-run films, or three hours for other content.
Correction: a previous version of this story reported the wrong number of guests the room holds. The correct number is 30.
