MAYOR
Paul Reinke
Age: 60
Paul Reinke
What qualifies you to hold this position? I’ve served 3 terms on the Oakdale City Council and was appointed mayor in 2016, winning the special election in 2018. My 35-year successful career in the commercial real estate industry has developed effective leadership, management and collaboration skills. I am a strong and consistent voice and advocate for our residents and businesses.
What would your top priorities be if elected? Maintaining our high quality and highly responsive police, fire protection and public works services. Increasing the “quality of life” for our residents and businesses. Maintaining our low and reasonable city budgets and tax rates. Ensuring new developments are high quality.
What do you think is the primary role of government? City government’s primary job is to provide things that individuals or small groups normally can’t provide in an efficient manner, i.e.: police and fire protection, emergency services, utilities, thoughtful land planning, streets and bridges; and to create a healthy environment that allows people equal opportunity to participate and be productive.

What qualifies you to hold this position? When I ran for City Council, I made my approach to public service clear – to listen twice as much as I speak. My campaign for mayor is about one thing, taking what I have learned from my education, career and public service, but especially what I takeaway from listening to our great residents, and putting it to work for the residents of Oakdale.
What would your top priorities be if elected? Fiscal Stability: Oakdale has several large projects coming up. These need to be completed in a fiscally-responsible way. Promote public safety by growing resident involvement: A strong police department is only half of the public safety equation. Having more people involved and invested in Oakdale positively impacts public safety in Oakdale.
What do you think is the primary role of government? To provide for the safety of all residents, to coordinate the amenities that support a strong quality of life, and to be a resource for residents who want to be heard and involved, but may not know where to start.

COUNCIL MEMBER AT LARGE
Mark Landis

Mark Landis
What qualifies you to hold this position? Current City Council member, Economic Development Commission since 1995 (Chair 14 years), numerous sub commissions/ citizen advisory positions. Washington County Housing Redevelopment Authority commissioner 2012-2014, Two Rivers CLT Board, strategic planning for School District #622, comprehensive planning for City of Oakdale multiple times.
What would your top priorities be if elected? Quality of life for Oakdale residents. Focus on parks, trails, economic development, redevelopment, good paying jobs, transportation, multiple housing options, public safety, fiscal responsibility (low tax base) great roads, neighborhood revitalization, redevelopment, and proud to call Oakdale home.
What do you think is the primary role of government? Specifically, for the City of Oakdale, it is to provide fiscally run public services for its residence for an optimal quality of life.

What qualifies you to hold this position? I love living in Oakdale and deeply want to assure its continued success, and strive to assure it continues to be the city where we can live and work to our fullest. The processes to getting things done well in business are always working together as a team of people from many different areas and needs, for a common goal. A lesson I learned well.
What would your top priorities be if elected? Public safety, people must feel safe in their homes and businesses. Responsible budgeting, planning. Maintaining programs to help improve and maintain Oakdale’s aging housing. Improving availability of buses or other modes, I believe its important to a significant and growing number of our citizens, and will still depend on maintaining our roads.
What do you think is the primary role of government? City government is closest to where you live, work and play. Its primary role is to provide essential services like water, safety with your police and fire, and roads for your needs, parks and trails for recreation. And to act responsibly, not ask more of you in taxes than is required to provide those services and needs for business and citizens.

What qualifies you to hold this position? My past & present experience on the Park & Recreation Commission along with my 20+ years holding senior management positions at various manufacturing companies involving developing, implementing and executing budgets. Lastly but not least, my passion to serve the community of Oakdale in a greater capacity runs deep.
What would your top priorities be if elected? 1). Public safety – for both the residents and businesses of Oakdale. All relates back to our “Quality of Life”. 2). Keeping the city budget viable without taxing the residents or businesses inappropriately. 3). Need to maintain and improve our parks. They are one of our prized possessions we need to protect and enhance.
What do you think is the primary role of government? To provide the foundation-direction of the city (steer the ship) and then ensure we have the resources needed to properly and safely set sail.
