WYOMING, MI -- Dunham's Sports will move into a storefront near near RiverTown Crossings Mall that has been empty since spring after MC Sports closed.
The former Grand Rapids sporting goods chain went out of business in May after it couldn't pay millions owed to vendors such as Nike and Under Armour.
Now, Troy-based Dunham's Sports is taking over MC Sports' location, at 4830 Wilson Ave. SW in Wilson Town Shopping Center. A banner on the building below the MC Sports signage announces the retailer is "coming soon."
It's unclear when the store will open. The retailer didn't immediately return a call from MLive/The Grand Rapids Press.
The store's location is described as Grandville by the retailer, even though it is inside Wyoming city limits.
Dunham's is accepting applications online at www.qhire.net/Dunhams, according to a press release from the retailer.
The new store will be stocked with a full line of traditional sporting goods and athletic equipment, as well as a wide variety of active and casual sports apparel and footwear, the statement said.
The Michigan-based retailer has 230 stores in 22 Midwestern and Southern states.
