Deadlines approaching for upcoming elections

MANISTEE COUNTY — Election season is in full swing, with several important deadlines fast approaching. The following are the remaining times and dates for potential candidates to keep in mind leading up to the Aug. 7 primary and Nov. 6 general elections:.


MANISTEE COUNTY — Election season is in full swing, with several important deadlines fast approaching.
The following are the remaining times and dates for potential candidates to keep in mind leading up to the Aug. 7 primary and Nov. 6 general elections:
August Primary Election
Write-In Candidates: Write-in candidates (other than write-in candidates who seek precinct delegate positions) file Declaration of Intent forms for the August Primary.
The filing deadline is by 4 p.m. on July 27. Filing location depends on the position being sought: Township positions are with respective township clerks; county positions are with the Manistee County clerk (415 Third St. in Manistee).
Precinct Delegate
Precinct Delegate Write-In: File with the appropriate township clerk until 4 p.m. on Aug. 3. Form needed: Precinct Delegate Write-In Candidate Declaration of Intent.
OR
Precinct Delegate Write In: File in appropriate precinct on primary election day before the close of the polls (8 p.m.). Form needed: Precinct Delegate Write-In Candidate Declaration of Intent.
November General Election
Village Candidates
Filing deadline: by 4 p.m. on July 24.
Withdrawal deadline: by 4 p.m. on July 27.
Filing location: Respective township clerk’s office
• Affidavit of Identity
• File Non-partisan Nominating Petitions
Number of signatures needed: minimum of six to maximum of 20.
• Statement of Organization, to be filed with Manistee County Clerk’s Office (if one hasn’t been filed previously or changes need to be made).
Candidates Without Political Party Affiliation (i.e. filing for a Partisan office with No Party Affiliation)
(If the township has a partial term on the ballot)
Filing deadline: by 4 p.m. on July 19.
Withdrawal deadline: by 4 p.m. on  July 23.
Filing location: Respective township clerk’s office
• Affidavit of Identity
• File Qualifying Petitions
Number of signatures needed: minimum of nine to maximum of 30.
• Statement of Organization, to be filed with Manistee County County Clerk’s Office (if one hasn’t been filed previously or changes need to be made).
