UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Construction is under way on a new Twin Peaks restaurant, a rustic mountain-themed sports bar at 5060 Monroe St. near Franklin Park Mall. The 8,500-square-foot restaurant is being built by the Spieker Co. and Ansara Concepts and is expected to open in late July or early August. The site had housed a steakhouse that closed.
ACHIEVEMENTS
■ Tony Packo, Jr., of Tony Packo’s restaurants, received a Tourism Impact award for 2018 at Destination Toledo’s 10th Annual Conference on Tourism.
■ Toledo-based building products maker Owens Corning has been ranked No. 3 on Corporate Responsibility magazine’s 100 best Corporate Citizens list for the fourth consecutive year. The list recognizes environmental, social, and governance performances of publicly traded companies.
■ Farmers & Merchants Bancorp of Archbold, Ohio, has been named to American Banker magazine’s Top 200 Publicly Traded Community Banks and Thrifts. The list is based on a three-year average return on equity.
■ The Ohio Chemistry Technology Council has recognized two northwest Ohio plants for health, safety, and security performances. BASF Corp. in Whitehouse improved its employee and visitor-access security, and Jones-Hamilton in Walbridge achieved a safety milestone last year with 2,000 days with no loss-time accidents.
■ Four local companies won top awards at the 2018 American Advertising District 5 Competition: Madhouse won a Gold ADDY in the industry self-promotion category; Hart won a Silver ADDY in the local TV commercial-campaign category for Bowling Green State University men’s and women’s basketball; North Design won a Silver ADDY in the integrated branded-content campaign category for an LA 2024 Brand Look ad; and ProMedica won a Silver ADDY in the out-of-home multiple installations category for its headquarters installation.
■ The Ottawa County Safety Council received honorable mention for 2017 Safety Council of the Year by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
■ Kyle Kreft, solar manager for GEM Energy of the Rudolph Libbe Group in Walbridge, has been recognized as one of the Energy Manager Today 75 by the Environment and Energy Leaders Institute.
