Clemson dove into the penthouse pool Saturday night to swim with the Gators.
Clemson defeated Pittsburgh 42-10 in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game. The Tigers became the second program to win four consecutive conference title games. Florida won four consecutive Southeastern Conference championship games from 1993 to 1996.

Clemson’s recent dominance of the ACC should be attributed mostly to its relentless thrust and improvement. But the league’s detractors will submit the lopsided results as evidence of the league’s inferiority. The ACC’s reputation was sullied this season by disconcerting non-conference losses.

Pittsburgh lost to Central Florida and Penn State by a combined 80 points. Kentucky dropped Louisville 56-10. Virginia lost to Indiana. Virginia Tech lost to Old Dominion.
The ACC compiled a 4-9 record this season against other Power Five Conferences. Nevertheless, even after routing the Coastal Division champion by 32 points, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney confidently defended the depth of the league.
“It’s very competitive. Anybody can beat anybody, in my opinion, in this league,” Swinney said. “That’s one of the reasons we've been so successful in postseason, because of what we play week in and week out in our league. The league never gets the amount of credit it deserves, but … man, you better be ready.

“I have a ton of respect for all the teams in here. We've worked really hard to build our program, and we're proud of what we've done. But it’s (not) far from the outhouse to the penthouse. I know how small a margin it is. There's a lot of great teams in this league that I think are continuing to build their programs. We've been very fortunate to have the consistency that we've had.”
Clemson is one of 11 ACC teams to earn bowl invitations this season:
